The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger, is a long title for a very interesting book. 👨🏻🏫It discusses the origin of the containerization movement and their implication for the global supply chain.⛓
.
Marc Levinson, the author, is an economist and historian specializing in business, he did a great job with this book! He studies this transport evolution from different perspective whiteout begin too boring for an academician. We can see that each fact related in the book is very well documented, there are numerous footnotes and indexes, sources, etc…
.
The only 2 criticisms would be the lack of narrative driver which leads to a bit of repetitiveness. And the 🇺🇸USA-centrism, would be much more interesting to have a wider view of the entire containerization movement.
